Food Allergies and Sensitivities

Common symptoms of food sensitivities are one or more of the following: headache, stomach complaints, joint pain, irritability, fatigue, weight gain, runny nose, cough, stuffy head, excess phlegm, urinary incontinence, bowel changes and foggy thinking.  If you think your symptoms are caused in part by food allergies or sensitivities, the food culprit is most likely one of the following: wheat (gluten), dairy, soy, eggs, corn, nuts, nightshades, or citrus.  You can follow an elimination diet for 4-6 weeks and see if symptoms resolve.  This is the gold standard of food sensitivity testing.  For most, this is very difficult to do.  An alternative is to check your blood for antibodies to any of these foods.  USBiotek is one of the laboratories that I use for this testing.  It only requires one blood draw at the office or lab.  If you are interested in having your blood checked please don’t hesitate to call the office.  541-389-9750
